Cyberpunk 2077 was CD Projekt Red’s most worked game and was it’s crown’s jewel. The game was worked upon for 8 years. But the game which was expected to break records and was supposed to hit next level success failed immensely. So what went wrong?

Problems with Cyberpunk 2077

Unrealistic Approach of the company

After Witcher 3’s massive success, CD Projekt Red had very high expectations from their new game. According to Jason Schreier, the belief regarding work ethic in CD Projekt Red was quite simple-minded. The directors believed everything would turn out fine when deciding on unrealistic timelines for their work. They had made The Witcher 3, after all what can go wrong? The management had this unwavering belief that if they worked hard enough and crunch, their games would come together.

The game was meant to be 3rd person.

The game had a fake demo by 2018 but all the staff of CD Projekt Red knew that the game will not be released till 2020.

Β Cyberpunk was initially thought out to be a Third-Person game (up until 2016). Certain features that were originally included in the game such as wall-running, flying cars, and car ambushes were cut later to meet the deadline. Other features such as the police were actually added at the last minute.
