Knock Knock! Who’s there? New Talent!

We are back with our weekly dose of new artists to look out for and oh boy, do we have something special for you! This talented artist aims to have your love and encouragement and to make music that ensnares your soul.

Flying Shoe is an indie folk/pop project from Pune/Mumbai. Singer-songwriter Omkar Potdar has been an independent musician for five years now and is known for writing simple lyrics and composing effortlessly mellifluous melodies. We will let his introduction be his single “Paperboats” which was featured on Prime TV Goa for their special show on World Music Day 2016.

Omkar had been a bass guitarist with his band Studmuffin. Opportunities like the One For The Road tour launched at High Spirits in 2015 to Nouvelle Prague in Czech Republic, have been channelling their dedication for music. The travelling experience has only honed this band’s music. Needless to say, they have had amazing memories together. But now, Omkar is following his heart with his solo endeavor Flying Shoe.

With no plans of being a musician and just the hope of learning to play the guitar, Omkar realised his musical prowess needed to be something more than just a hobby. From studying engineering for two years and quitting it to get a degree in Commerce and then a master’s degree in mass communication from Symbiosis Institute Of Media and Communication, Pune; Omkar continued to learn more and get better. It wasn’t long before he found his musical talent and got exposure with his band Studmuffin.

After moving to Mumbai and having a hard time finding himself in this big city, he achieved impeccability in his music and the last year has been rewarding for him! His first solo gig took place at blueFROG, Mumbai!

That’s not all! He has efficiently conquered some of the best musical evenings ever at places such as BandCamp, The HIVE, Open Sky, Tuning Fork, Mood Indigo,etc!
