Meet Lynston D’souza, the face behind Qwiver and Blurry Slur!

The underground DJ hails from Mumbai and has gathered quite a bit of attention in the music scene. Going under the alias Qwiver for his ‘Minimal Techno’ sounds, D’souza saves his Deep-House, Tech-House & Electronica projects for his other performances under the pseudonym ‘Blurry Slur’.

Beginning his musical journey at the tender age of 16, Lynston D’souza has evolved into one of the most sought after talents in the Mumbai underground scene. He has only been working with music production for about two years but is already quite proficient at what he does. “I’m super addicted to it now, and spend as much time in the studio as possible!” he quotes.

Apart from the genres he already works with, D’souza is a fan of Downtempo, Chillout music and has been working with this too. “This is something I’d definitely like to try more of in the future!” he says. When it come to favourites, Tom Misch is his go-to producer for easy sound, and when he’s not making music, he likes to kick back, watching some TV.

Speaking of his musical journey so far, Lynston is proud of how far he has come, but will never stop pushing himself to do more. “I’ve been lucky & blessed to gain the kind of traction that I have in a relatively short span of time, but just goes to show that hard work pays off & that talent will never go un-noticed,” he says. His advice to the next generation of musicians is to “Stick to their guns, believe in themselves, actually play and produce what they like so that they have that feeling of satisfaction at the end and of course, keep it cool & fresh always!”

Although music is now his main priority, D’souza previously worked a day job, helping his sister run her recruitment firm. “During the season (around November) it got a little too much with the gigs, festivals & of course all the after hours, so I decided to focus all my energy on just music, and it has been great since then!” he says.

You can catch him live at Razzberry Rhinoceros in Mumbai on June 9th and Koramangala Social in Bangalore on June 16th, and playing cameo sets at Bipolar at The Daily Bar & Kitchen in June. The next installment of his concept nights, entitled Framed: The Looney Edition, goes live today at Antisocial, Khar. Get all the details here.
