If only women ruled the world, right?

Unfortunately that it isn’t the case so far, but we have high hopes. Maybe if events like the Black March in Poland or the Women’s March in Washington combined, things would be different. Luckily for us, we’re not the only ones who feel this way. The OFF Festival Katowise, scheduled to take place from the 4th to the 6th of August, has always focused heavily on women artists in previous editions and this year is no different. Be itΒ punk papesse Patti Smith, riot girl Kathleen Hanna,Β Kim Gordon and the shaman Ogoya Nengo, Fatima Al Qadiri and Julia Holter, Chelsea Wolfe and Nosowska, Warpaint and Brodka; the women performing at the festival are both talented and strong!

This year, another fascinating line-up of women are set to perform and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Can’t wait to find out who they? Take a look below….

Philadelphia’s Moor Mother, a.k.a. Camae Ayewa is all set to bring her intensity vibes! Her debut album,Β ‘Fetish Bones’, was considered as one of the most important records of last year, although it was not meant for the masses. Streaming from the special and collective memory of an African-American woman, the album focuses on rebellion. Although her message has a more angry tone, critics have compared her toΒ Allen Ginsberg’s β€œHowl,” Matana Roberts’ “Coin Coin”, and even Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly”.

Known for their raw form and uncompromising lyrics, the band is self described as β€œSIKSA is an infantile and antisocial nightmare that emerged from the punk rock, theater, and literature scenes.” It’s β€œloud-mouthed literature shouted over vulgar bass marches, spat out here and now by a non-actress and non-musician…” If that introduction is too complex for you, they also describe themselves as “part Britney Spears and part Guernica y Luno.”
