They have a good name in the music industry but play a wicked game on the decks.

The UMM Circuit Challenge is hosting a rad contest for aspiring DJs all over India to show people that Indian DJs are as good as the rest of the world. In order to choose the creme de la creme from the aspiring lot, UMM has chosen a few mentors to make the big decision. They are individuals who have been active in the electronic music scene for a while now and continue to excel in what they do. Wanna know more about them? We have all the information on them:

1. Nawed Khan

This man has been a regular at Submerge as well as other international clubs. Nawed Khan, a.k.a Browncoat, has been around for more than 15 years! That’s more than 3/4 of my life! He’s also shared stages with EDM heavy weights like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyke, Zedd and performed across America, Asia, Australia , Africa and Europe. Currently, he’s the resident DJ at Mumbai’s Kitty Su and never fails to get the crowd pumped up. He’s filled with years of musical knowledge and that makes him perfect as a mentor.

2. Julia Bliss

This lady might seem familiar to you because even though she started her music career at 15, she also starred in a few Bollywood movies in the early 2000s. She’s a favourite at Supersonic, Main Stage Music Festival among a few others. Her mixes always make it to the top EDM charts and she is on an uphill climb with her content. She’s definitely one to watch out for.

3. DJ Skip

Since he was selected as the national winner for the Red Bull Thre3Style contest in 2011 and representing Indian in Chicago in 2012, this guy hasn’t looked back. Along with taking on the stage at festivals like Sunburn, GO:MADras and others, he has been busy touring for his latest album “Bass & Tings” in India. He has the chops at teaching and guiding, something that we all look for in a mentor.

4. DJ Mash

DJ Mash began DJing since 1997 and has come a long way since then and has been a well known figure in the Australian dance music society after organising a few great progressive and psytrance shows there. This also led him to start his own record label, Omveda Records, along with Pulse, a psytrance project that focuses on dark melodic sounds. The man has played worldwide and will now grace us with his unlimited enthusiasm as well as knowledge during his mentor ship.

5. DJ Clement

He’s one of the first DJs to be present at Sunburn, even while it was in its developmental stage. He continues to perform all around the globe and has shared the same space at David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Dmitri Vegas and Like Mike and many more. He graces clubs with his beats more than occasionally and has no issue when it comes to creating a space for the biggest party of the night. We can’t wait to see what he brings to this panel of mentors.

6. Tuhin Mehta

Tuhin Mehta is also a DJ who has completed 20 years in the music business and it’s been a good ride. From being named Pioneer’s Pro DJ from India in 2007 to being best buds with Nikhil Chinapa, this guy is leading the life many amateur artists wish to live. He’s the Festival Director of Go: Madras too! His guidance will be plentiful and will be helpful, whether you win or not.

7. DJ Ivan

(Credits: soundcloud)

Bangalore’s uber famous DJ Ivan has been around for a really long time and there’s good reason for it too. He’s well-known and is also the first ever Indian DJ to host a radio dance music show on Radio City 91.1 FM. He’s here since 1994 and will be around for more time with his never-ending supply of energy and larger than life personal music style. The best member of the jury according to us and well-deserved too.

The competition is still on and will be having its grand blasting finale in Bangalore where the winner will win an opportunity of a lifetime with a one year contract with Submerge, pro gear and much more.
