Two of States’ gigantic festivals say ‘hell no!’ to the popular contraption. Here’s why.

It began somewhere in 1995, when someone picked it out of a list titled “Useless Chinese Inventions”. If only they knew. The new fixture of the modern day millenials, now also said to beΒ the easiest way to spot a douchebag – the selfie stick, has been banned from two major US music festivals.

Coachella and Lollapalooza put their proverbial foot down and reject the selfie stick. Coachella’s official website blatantly states that “Selfie sticks/Narcissists” are banned from festival grounds. Both festivals consider the stick as part of the “prohibited” items list, along with drugs.

It is said that reason behind this ban is that anything that blocks the view to the live performance on stage for the other viewers is not welcome by the organizers. In an interview with NME,Β a spokesperson for the Wembley SSE Arena said, “The sticks might mean you are refused entry to the venue so our advice is don’t bring them and stick with the tried and tested use of an arm.”
