You know you love them!
First off, there shouldn’t be a song that you are embarrassed to play aloud or announce as your favourite jam, well not unless they feature on an ‘ultimate guilty pleasure songs’ playlist such as this! Oh, don’t worry we won’t judge; been there done that! Be it dancing to the “Ketchup Song” in the mornings or crooning our hearts out to Backstreet Boys, we know there’s nowhere else we’d indulge in those songs more than in our private abode. Which one of these is your guilty pleasure jam?
1. Britney Spears – “Oops!…I Did It Again”
Almost no introduction or explanation needed for this song! Britney’s catchy pop rhythm rules the guilty pleasure songs playlist!
2. Gloria Gaynor – “I Will Survive”
While the song is powerful in its lyrical rendition, its also that shout-out that ‘I’m strong now, you can’t beat me’! More a teary accompaniment, you wouldn’t want to walk the streets pumping your fist in the air hooting out the song hook!
3. Justin Bieber ft. Ludacris – “Baby”
Now now, the girls admit it but there sure are a whole lot of boys who stash this track away in their ‘never play in front of people’ playlist! We admit, it’s way too cheesy, but it has our love, fam!
4. Backstreet Boys – “Everybody”
Every 90’s kid knows just how popular Backstreet Boys was with their boyish charm and dance routines! A constant anthem that’s stayed through the years would be “Everybody” and we know you love it too!
5. Westlife – “Uptown Girl”
As far as boybands go, no list is complete without Westlife in it. This catchy pop number that borders on a cat-calling video, was actually quite the jam back in the day!
6. Shakira ft. Wyclef Jean – “Hips Don’t Lie”
The number of views this video has on Youtube is proof enough that everyone from 50 year old gramps to 11 year-olds these days love this track and are probably just really into belly-dancing too!
7. Miley Cyrus – “Wrecking Ball”
Guilty-pleasure. Straight up! The song went on to be a serious break-up recovery anthem and well needless to say that makes it a fixated choice for this playlist!
8. Christina Aguilera – “What A Girl Wants”
American teenage-dream personified in this pop number by Christina. Imagine a group of 13 year-olds belting out this track on the speakers and you know this definitely is a song to be played privately!
9. WHAM! – “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”
As old as this track gets, it will always remain our favourite! Ear piercings, quirky outfits, smoke and lights and songs for the lost lover make this funky number a serious contender for number one on this playlist!
10. Cyndi Lauper – “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”
Unapologetically loud and brash, Cyndi Lauper tells you what’s up in this anthem for girls over the years! Boys take note on this serious schooling!
Honorable Mention
N Sync – “I Want You Back”
Before Justin Timberlake went solo, there was N Sync and their cheesy pop rhythms. The boy band that was the heart throb of all girls in the 90’s, created this track that to date is heard in the dead of night of that lone-lit house on your street!
