We all love a little something special, don’t we?

This year was filled with memorable moments as the Indian music scene gained more momentum and was propelled into the international limelight. And boy, aren’t we proud of our little achievers. But some moments in the past yearย became the talk of the town for being, well, just weird. We’ve listed down just a few out of the many moments in the past year that got you to sit up and take notice:

1. Nucleya’s Raja Baja Album Launch Wasย Larger Than Life.

The bass king brought the house down when he launched his Raja Baja Album with an RSVP gig across Mumbai. The album was the much awaited follow-up to his 2015 album BASS Rani. Anish Sood, Su Real, Zaeden, Sound Avtar, SickFlip & Ritviz accompanied the man of the hour with some killer sets as well.ย Apparently, the ticketing partner for the event, Insider, got 15,000 RSVPs in less than 20 hours and had to shut down the RSVPs!

2. Nanok Releases Jaw-Dropping Videoย Featuring Monica Dogra and Anushka Manchanda.

Electronica producer Nanok released a risquรฉ videoย featuring Monica Dogra and Anushka Manchanda getting rather cosy in each other’s company. The song “Lay You Down” featured the two women going all out with steamy scenes that shocked and surprised viewers. But Nanok was quick to defend the video for his track by saying,ย โ€œI just wanted to make a video about an emotional moment between two people in love. But then I thought why canโ€™t it be two girls?โ€ย Rightly said.

3. DJ Chetas And Lost Stories Put India On The DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2016 List.

When the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2016 list was announced during the Amsterdam Dance Event this year, every Indian EDM lover woke up to the best news ever! Chetas had jumped to the #33 position from his #59 position last year and Lost Stories made their entry on the list at a prestigious #52. Talk about Indian pride.

4. Parekh And Singh Caught Wes Anderson’s Attention.

Kolkata’s Dream Pop Duo – Parekh and Singh grabbed headlines instantly when they released the video for their track “I Love You Baby, I Love You Doll”. Not only was the folk-inspired song catchy AF, but the video looked like a montage right out of a Wes Anderson movie! And that wasn’t the best bit. The video got a nod from the man himself! He replied to an e-mail saying, “I like it and I like them. And their suits.”ย Now that’s something.

5. YouTube Stars Got Their Moment To Shine On Stage.

This year, thanks to festivals like Bollywood Music Project and Enchanted Valley Carnival, YouTube musical icons got the platform to shine on stage in front of their fans. Arjun Kanungo, Siddharth Slathia, Shirley Setia and many more sang their hearts out for their fans and accompanied their vocal talents with even better live performances. Goes to show that digital media is fast growing as a platform for people to showcase their talent and find enough recognition to push them into the national spotlight, maybe even global.

There are so many more moments that made the spotlight this year and we’d probably have to write a book on it. We just hope 2017 is as eventful as this year was so we can look forward to many more headlines.
