Yes, it’s true. Grammy-winner DJ Calvin Harris will be teaming up with Will Smith and Jay-Z for HBO’s upcoming comedy titled ‘Higher’.

Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh will be writing the half-hour series set in the world of dance music. The idea was developed by him along with Calvin. It is being reported that Will Smith and Jay-Z are producers of the show, along with Calvin as the executive producer.

Apart from these three heavy-hitters, there will be more producers for the show including Jada Pinkett Smith, James Lassiter, Tyran Smith, Miguel Melendez, Mark Gillespie and Dean Wilson. Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Will Smith are also working on the remake of the musical Annie.

Just like the movie industry had HBO’s ‘Entourage’, the dance music community will have ‘Higher’ in 2014. The show is backed by Overbrook Entertainment, Three Six Zero Group and Marcy Media.
