From giant omelette-making events to Santa Claus championships, here’s November’s installment of the weird and wonderful

1. Giant Omelette Celebration

Where : Abbeville, Louisiana

To every massive foodie out there, have you ever been to a festival that has an omlette made of 5,000 eggs, 50 pounds of onions, 75 bell peppers, four gallons of onion tops, two gallons of parsley, 1.5 gallons of cooking oil, 6.5 gallons of milk, 52 pounds of butter, three boxes of salt, two boxes of black pepper, Louisiana Crawfish Tails and TABASCO Pepper Sauce?

Look no further, the Giant Omelette Celebration is an event aimed at delivering an ‘eggcelent’ time for families as it includes music, cajun food, an egg-cracking contest and the making of the giant omelette!

2.World Elephant Polo Championship

Where: Nepal

With the onset of winter comes one of Nepal’s coolest festivals — The World Polo Championship. Established back in 1982 by two sport lovers who were a tad more adventurous than the rest, this championship has become the ultimate Elephant Polo event in the world. This November 25-29, witness representatives from eight countries compete with each other on the backs of elephants.

3. Cannabis Cup

Where : Amsterdam, Netherlands

Cannabis Cup (held every November) happens to be Amsterdam’s most famous and popular festival that promotes the personal cultivation and use of marijuana. This five-day event will take you on a tour through the world of weed. Founded back in 1987 by an American activist, Steven Hager (who has been a  strong advocate for the legalisation of marijuana), Cannabis Cup is what we’d call a modern day harvest festivity where stoners and hemp enthusiasts unite to  experience and learn about their favourite past time. At Cannabis Cup you can experience marijuana, like how you can experience luxury goods at a luxury goods expo. Visitors are encouraged to sample the various variations and ‘products’ of weed, and can also sit as judges in a ‘best category’ competition. Pretty neat huh?
