Behold the Grunge Gods!

The MTV Video Music Awards of 1993 was held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. With performances from great artists like Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, Sting and R.E.M toย Kurt Cobain’s final VMA appearance; the 1993 edition is fondly remembered by many.

The eight minute performance of “Rockin’ In The Free World” by Pearl Jam and Neil Young is one that stood out among the rest and is fondly remembered as one of the VMAโ€™s most iconic performances.ย “Rockin’ in the free world” was released by Neil Young on his 1989 album Freedom. Hisย music had a strong impact on the early 90’s grunge music scene.

This Powerhouse performance was absolutely smashing thanks to the genius musical skills of the artists on stage! Be prepared for goosebumps when the Canadian absolutely kills it with his lead.ย No wonder he is often cited as ” Theย Godfather of Grunge

With Pearl Jam rocking out their finest with Eddie Vedder in his prime accompanying Neil Young, you can almost feel what the energy in that venue was. What more can one ask for?
