It’s official guys! The celebrity couple has ended their engagement.

Joel Zimmerman a.k.a. Deadmau5 and heavily-inked artist Kat Von D have called it quits. Von D accused the mau5head of cheating on her. Abiding by the venting-it-out-on-Twitter convention, Kat tweeted:

β€œCheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do. I hate to have to admit, that this relationship is indeed over.”

Followed by:

β€œOnwards and upwards.” (In the same minute as the previous one.)

Zimmerman, who has a reputation for being explicitly blatant, abstained from commenting on the issue for a while. But he has finally spoken up! Here’s what he had to say:

β€œAll i am saying on the matter:

Kat and I split in November and I moved back home to Toronto. During this time, while we were broken up, I did have relations with another woman. Following that, Kat and I reconciled and I acknowledged being intimate with another person while we were estranged.

We did move past those issues and I proposed to Kat in mid- December. At the end of June, it was clearΒ that the relationship was not working and we mutually ended the engagement. I was not, at any point, unfaithful to Kat during our time together.

I don’t wish to go tit for tat with these kinds of pronouncements and don’t expect to comment further, but I do believe that those who have expressed concern deserve a more complete understanding of what transpired.”

Kat & Mau5, who were to tie the knot in August this year (with an aquatic-themed wedding!), have several matching tattoos, including two black stars under their eyes.

Β Unfortunately, Kat is not a stranger to dealing with infidelity. She was caught in a similar situation with TV personality Jesse James in 2011. One can’t help but feel sorry for the lady. She had gifted Deadmau5 a Porsche for his birthday and more recently, he produced tracks for Kat.

Seems like the adage is indeed accurate – cat and mice can never get along!
