What would you do to get to your favourite music festival?
Over the weekend, a 17-year-old attendee at V Festival put out a screenshot of a text from her mother on Twitter. In the text, the girl’s mother claims to disown her saying, “You are not my daughter.”
Ouch. That’s harsh. Or is it? The teen allegedlyΒ ditched babysitting her younger sisters while her mother worked at the family restaurant to camp out at V Festival. “I escaped. Literally.” Says the girl, “I left a note and got a friend to pick me up and drop me off at my dad’s an hour away!”
Kids do a lot of crazy things these days and sneaking off to a festival is definitely on the extreme side of things, but a lot of people on the internet considered the girl’s mother’s reaction harsh and uncalled for. “Obviously your parents aren’t going to be happy with some of the choices you make but at the end of the day, you will have to learn,” says the teen.
In the end, when asked if the festival and the whole drama that endued after was worth it, the teen replied, “The festival was amazing. The stormy weather didn’t even stop us! Not just us but everyone. Definitely glad I took wellies! It was worth it because I’ve had an amazing time and a brilliant experience with my friends. I wouldn’t have done it any better.”
