The city’s skies will be thick with colourful balloonsΒ at this festival in 2016.

The state of Bihar plans to organise its first ever hot-air balloon festival after monsoon next year, probably around the months of November-December. This festival is also part of an effort to boost tourism in the state. After the success of the two-day kite festival at the time of Makar Sankranti, organisers hope the hot-air balloon will be received with the same amount of enthusiasm.

The kite festival that was hosted in the city in January this year was quite a happening event, and attracted professional kite fliers from all over the country. The dates of the hot-air balloon festival are yet to be announced, but it will most likely be held in the Sabbalpura diara area near Gandhi Ghat. The tourism department has also revealed that visitors may get to ride on the balloons at the festival!

A tourism department official also said, β€œThings are still in the preliminary stage now. The state plans to organise its first hot-air balloon festival just after the monsoon, either in November or December. It would be a three-day-long event. A tender inviting people and experts has been floated. The department is sure that many teams will turn up and there will be a competition among bidders.”
