The Flying Dutch Festival has just been cancelled owing to the uncertainty of Avicii showing up, though several other big name artists were already confirmed.

According to a post on the Alda Events (organizers of the festival) website, the cancellation is due toΒ Avicii’s management not being able to “vouch for the presence of the superstar.”

“These past weeks we experienced uncertainty because Avicii was cancelling a lot of shows all over the world,”Β says organiser John Ewbank. “Our request to Avicii and his management to provide a guarantee of his attendance at our event went to no avail. They can’t vouch for his presence. This uncertainty is unacceptable. We can’t do that to our audience.”

“We regret this very much, also because these would be his final shows in our country,” said Allan Hardenberg of Alda. “We understand that the fans will be disappointed, especially because everyone realises how unique this event would have been.”

The Flying Dutch is by no means a small festival and with acts like Dada Life, Alesso, and Steve AngelloΒ also scheduled to perform, it is strange that they cancelled the whole thing.Β Some speculate saying that the organizers are only using Avicii’s cancellation as a cover to hide low ticket sales.Β The festival has also announced that all those who purchased tickets will receive a full refund.
