Bilbao BBK Live has recently unveiled its second wave of acts for the 2018 edition, with Noel Gallagher, alt-J, David Byrne, Bomba Estereo, Temples and more joining the previously announced acts of The xx and Gorillaz. The Spanish festival will take place on Bilbao’s Kobetamendi Mountain in the heart of the Basque Country from the 12th to 14th of July, 2018.
Along with this exciting news, the festival has also announced a special 72 hour ticket offer, allowing fans a chance to snap up 3-day festival passes for just €99 + bf, before the prices rise to €135 + bf at 12:00 CET on Monday 27th November.
Noel Gallagher will perform on an exclusive date in Spain at Bilbao BBK Live. The writer of some of the most iconic hits of our generation, the former Oasis star is currently making the most of his remarkable solo career with the release of his highly anticipated album with the High Flying Birds, titled ‘Who Built The Moon’, which has been rated by Q Magazine as his best work in the last decade.
Mercury Prize winners alt-J will also be performing. With a number of accolades to their name, including a number 1 record in the UK and nominations for Brit and GRAMMY awards, the band has forged a solid reputation with their music and the quality of their live performances. Now, they will return with their third studio album titled ‘Relaxer’, which has been described by critics as a new classic of our time.
Founder of Talking Heads, prolific solo artist, composer, author and label head, David Byrne manages to maintain the respect of the musical community generation-after-generation in a fashion few others have mastered. Never halting his efforts to innovate and create, Byrne is expected to bring many surprises to the Bilbao BBK Live stage.
The Colombian artists, Bomba Estereo, have a reputation for reinventing Latin musical culture and exporting it to the whole world using electronics, rhythm, great songs and fantastic live shows. The artists, who have previously toured with Arcade Fire, and have been commended by Barack Obama no less, are guaranteed to put on one hell of a show on Kobetamendi.
Since breaking onto the scene with their first demo on YouTube, Temples have enjoyed a soaring rise in popularity. Signed to Heavenly, the band’s second album, entitled ‘Volcano’ that was recently released this year has earned them a title as one of the most relevant Psychedelic rock groups of the moment, with supporters that include Noel Gallagher, Suede, Kasabian and The Vaccines.
Joining them will be Brooklyn rock band Parquet Courts; Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, who are one of the biggest acts on the Spanish independent scene; Mexrrissey, famous for reinterpreting the songs of the former leader of The Smiths with a Mexican touch; and experimental Spanish band Borrokan. The newly announced acts will be joining Mercury Prize winners The xx and Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s Gorillaz, with more acts still to be announced.
The festival will be taking place at a location just moments from the city, leaving festival-goers with plenty to explore before the music starts on each day. Patrons can take a trip into the culturally rich city of Bilbao and wander the winding streets of the quaint town while feasting on delicious pintxos.
