This year, a recent study by the Scottish SPCA and the University of Glasgow highlighted that “Reggae music and soft rock showed the highest positive changes in behaviour”.Β After playing a variety of music for their test subjects, the researchers concluded that dogs inclined towards these genres, as Professor Neil Evans said in a press release.

Professor EvansΒ further explained that the taste of each dog differs, β€œOverall, the response to different genres was mixed,” he said, β€œhighlighting the possibility that, like humans, our canine friends have their own individual music preferences.”

During this study, only five genres were tested. So, maybe your favourite EDM music has a chance in a full-fledged research with all genres of music! The genres tested were soft rock, Motown, pop, reggae, and classical. As BBC reports state, the study also suggested that dogs appreciate all music, regardless of genre, and spend β€œsignificantly more time lying down and significantly less time standing” while it was being played.
