Who knew a distant suburb dubbed Mars by snooty townies could make a perfect venue for not just any music festival, but a massive, noisy metal party? The upcoming edition of The Grand Mammoth Festival (TGMF), which prepares to return next month (October 4), seems like it will be a bigger and better affair.

Five metal bands – Gutslit,Β Zygnema, Sceptre-India, Narkasur and Primitiv will play at the day-long event, which will be held at Marine Centre. More bands will be announced closer to the festival.
Jeff Dani, the 21-year-old organiser of the festival, and the co-founder of Moonlight Entertainment, says that organising the festival is a risk he’s taking. “It’s a big struggle. I haven’t got any sponsors on board yet, but I need to organise this,” he says.
