Everything is rigged and no one’s ashamed to say it out loud. Ready yourself for what’s in store for you at this completely awkward and hilarious celebration as Pepsi MTV Indies turns one this April.
Kicking off SPIRO, the fresh MTV Indies property that’s bringing down Pretty Lights and The Glitch Mob will be an awards ceremony that you’ve probably never seen staged before. The 4-day festival will begin with the MTV Indie Awkwards, a night dedicated to commemorate the best Indie talent across the country with a bit of a twist.
A party in the guise of an awards show, the Indie Awkwards is a 3 hour on- ground entertainment package, complete with comic hosts, fun award categories and nominations, trophies, acceptance speeches, and epic music performances. The Sherp breaks it down:
Hosted by Jose Covaco and Varun Thakur
The night is going to be hosted by two guys who can stir up a laugh riot at any given point of time. Jose’s social media antics are incredibly entertaining, and we can’t wait to see how he lays waste to the Blue Frog as the host of the night with his partner in crime, Varun Thakur. Here’s a compilation that just sums up Jose’s nonsense perfectly:
Absurd nominations even more ludicrous categories
Humor will take center stage at this event, as the MTV guys have mapped out some of the most outrageous award categories you have ever come across. Indie artists, hold your breath, the night may not end as you expected it to.
The best of Indie will be summoned
India’s treasure chest of talented independent artists have been nominated and will be present at the ceremony. The night is going to be about having a fun look at the Indie scene, and a mock awards show that takes a good humoured dig at everything and everyone that make it.
Plenty of music to boot
The musical responsibility has been handed over to 4 of the most talented bands from the country who will be performing together after a really long time. 2sensitive, Bombay Black, Split and Blek will be in charge of the proceedings.
This is shaping up to be a night to remember. Be there to witness the best of Indian Indie at the Blue Frog, 9 PM onwards.
