“I know it’s a long shot but I live for long shots”.
Following the news that M.I.A. will be curating London’s Meltdown Festival this year, joining the ranks of past curators – Patti Smith, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, David Byrne, Ray Davies, Morrissey, Ornette Coleman and Scott Walker – she took to Twitter for programming tips from followers.

The London rapper has now fired up Twitter once again, asking Radiohead to consider performing at Meltdown 2017, slated for June 9th to 18th, saying, “I know it’s a long shot but I live for long shots, please come play Meltdown.”

About her curating process for the 24th edition of the Southbank festival, M.I.A. said in a press release, “For me this Meltdown will be about putting on a musical week that shows different types of music which have inspired each other to exist. Genres that support other genres, redefining the concept of a melting pot. Respect the history, don’t live in it. I plan to bring together music’s best forward thinkers who have contributed to all our lives. When music acts as inspiration, it’s boundary-less.”
M.I.A.’s line-up is still to be announced, while there has been no response from Radiohead’s end as yet. Earlier this year, Radiohead announced European tour dates for shows in Sweden, Denmark, Italy, and the Netherlands at the time that Meltdown is taking place.
