Big literary hotshots and a picturesque location in the mountains make for the perfect destination for all you book-lovers out there, and this October, the Kumaon Literary Festival brings these together in its first run.
Dhanachuli and Nainital will soon be home to a litfest of your dreams. This area has always had a special relationship with literature in India, and has even been home to several famous writers in history. The festival has a lot of interesting seminars and discussions on topics like forgotten legends of Indian cinema, ‘The jungle lore of Jim Corbett’ by Suhel Seth, role of women in ancient India, and Hindustani poetry connecting the common man to literature. Its supporting publishers are some of India’s most loved brands in literature, like Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle and Karadi Tales.
