Rumours about the fate of SoundCloud having been purchased by Spotify have gotten even more complicated as another huge player has entered the game.
According to Music Business Worldwide, everyone’s favourite search engine Google has an interest in buying theΒ audio distribution website but for less than the initial asking price of US 1 billion dollars.
SoundCloud has been having some trouble after blocking some song mixes. In the past few years, they had created agreements with major music labels to allow the website, with over 175 millionΒ users, to be allowed to have their music with a few of them even holding a stake. UniversalΒ Music Leisure,Β Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Inc. own a rough estimate of 4 per cent, 3 per cent and 2.5 per cent of the company respectively.
