No more lugging around your clunky wallets with wireless payment options being introduced at Coachella!

As Coachella’s official point of sale provider, Square is bringing its new Contactless and Chip Reader payment device to the festival, meaning iPhone and Apple Watch owners will have one less item to carry at the festival. These Apple Pay-compatible mobile card readers will be available throughout the festival venue and can be used to pay for food, drinks, merchandise and more.

These new Square Readers also support Android Pay and EMV which offers a safe & convenient alternative to cash. Though all traditional form of payment will also be accepted, Coachella is the first festival to integrate an open-loop payments network.

Square first teased the Apple Pay-compatible product at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference last year before it went public in November. In addition, iBeacon transmitters will also be used to “Surprise and Delight” attendees, who link their AmericanExpress card with the official Coachella app, with rewards. These rewards will be given out based on their location on festival grounds. Winners will be treated to perks like backstage tours, artist meet and greets, free Ferris Wheel rides, VIP ticket upgrades or even tickets to Coachella 2017.
