The money from your Burning Man ticket is being put to good use, we assure you.
Burning Man just announced the list of the 2016 Black Rock City Honoraria, sculptors and other artists who will be receiving additional funding for their art projects. These installations, many of which will adorn the festival grounds, have been promised amounts totalling a whopping $1.2 million this year. The funding will be used by the artists creating the Temple, the bell towers and 33 Guild Workshops at the festival among other things. All of this will of course be representative of this year’s theme, “Da Vinci’s Workshop.”

Burning Man had earlier announced limited edition “Da Vinci” tickets which costed a bomb but provided no additional benefits. There were rumours that it would be used to fund art projects but there was no confirmation until now. Every year Burning Man Arts issues a small number of grants for the purpose of partially funding specific art projects for display at the Burning Man event in Black Rock City. All works that stand on their own as physical, sculptural installations, independent of performances or activities, although these may accompany the installation, are considered eligible for submission.
