Festivals around the world you may not have heard of, but you need to attend!

 

1. The Warehouse Project

Where: Greater Manchester, England

When: September 27, 2013 – January 1, 2014

The Warehouse Project is a series of club nights organised in Greater Manchester, England, since 2006. It runs from September through to New Year’s Day each year plus occasional one off dates such as Bank Holiday weekends. This year’s line up includes The Prodigy and the usual suspects like Armin van Buuren, Rudimental and more. Even if you go for a few odd nights, it’ll be the time of your life.

 

2. Summer Sonic Festival

Where: Tokyo & Osaka, Japan

When: August 10 – August 11, 2013 [Already Concluded – Next year’s dates TBA]

You’ve got to have heard about this banger of a festival. Spread over two venues, Tokyo and Osaka, it’s Japan’s biggest festival. Line up for this year included biggies like Muse and Green Day. The Midnight Sonic Stage is on all night and has had dance music heavy weights like Steve Aoki and C2C.

 

3. Unknown Festival

Where: Croatia, Europe

When: September 10 – September 14, 2013

From the people behind Warehouse Project and Hideout, Unknown is a 5 day festival on the shores of Croatia. Being a destination festival, you can choose from various kinds of lodging and amenities including a fleet of bars and restaurants, three swimming pools, two supermarkets, a golf course, tennis court and a diving centre. “6 Days and nights of live concerts, forest, pool and boat parties, featuring over 100 artists.” And those artists include Moderat, Jamie XX & Django Django.

 

4. Chemical Music Festival

Where: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

When: November 2013

Set in an abandoned train station in Rio de Janeiro, this is the largest electronic music fest in Brazil. And if that’s not enough to entice you, last year’s line up includes Jamie Jones and Anthony Rother. This year’s line up hasn’t been announced yet, but you can expect one stage dedicated to house and techno only, and another for all the other genres of dance music. For tickets that won’t burn a whole in your pocket and fun-loving Brazilian people, this one’s a great pick.

 

5. Nature One

Where: Kastellaun, Germany

When: August 2 – August 4, 2013 [Already Concluded – Next year’s dates TBA]

Every August, a 50,000-strong crowd descends on Kastellaun for Germany’s biggest open-air festival. Nature One is a festival that runs full-night parties from 6 pm to 6 am. The fest has 4 main floors and 19 smaller stages, so the scale of this festival is not to be underestimated. Sebastian Ingrosso, Paul Van Dyk and Zedd played this year amongst many many others. Oh, and just to sell you on it a little more, BYOB is allowed!
