The issue was finally addressed at the festival.

Susan Sarandon had some very strong opinions about Woody Allen when she spoke at a ‘Women in Motion’ talk at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday.

The acclaimed director has been repeatedly accused by his daughter of sexually abusing her when she was a child, but he has strongly denied all accusations. However, when asked about her thoughts on the issue, Sarandon sharply fired back saying,” I have nothing good to say about Woody Allen, so I don’t think we should go there.” On being probed further, she said, “I think he sexually assaulted a child and I don’t think that’s right … It’s gotten very quiet in here, but that’s true.”

The actress is not the first to have fired shots at Allen, as French comedianΒ Laurent LafitteΒ also made a joke about the situation, though he later said that his comments were taken out of context.
