1. Buddh International Circuit, Jaypee Sports City, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh

The Jaypee Sports City, which houses India’s currently non-operational F1 circuit, has been designed to perfection by world-renowned architects and planners. The recent Delhi edition of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender was held  here, and in The Sherp’s opinion, stands out as one of the best in the country to host a festival the scale of the Weekender. You can treat yourself to a spectacular view of the sunset, as well as the marvellous F1 stadium, but the best part about the venue has to be the smooth drive to it.

2. Festival Arena, Ambay Valley City, Lonavala, Maharashtra

The hills surrounding the venue — Ambay Valley City — paired with Lonavala’s ever-pleasant climate provide the perfect setting for camping here. The independent township is just a few hours drive from Mumbai. The debut edition of Enchanted Valley Carnival last year was held in the festival arena just off the main township, and it was a roaring success.

3. Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Home to the Rajasthan International Folk Festival, there are many who believe that the festival’s magnetism would be non- existent if it wasn’t for the awe-inspiring fort it is held in. The imposing structure, which overlooks the city, is more than 500 years old. Mehrangarh Fort looks especially enchanting after sunset, when moonlight seeps through its magnificent columns and jharokhas. It is just five kilometres from Jodhpur Airport, and is easily accessible at any given time.

Situated just a few kilometres off Manali, the venue has a beautiful 360-degree view of the mountains, and lies adjacent to the river Beas. Home to the Shiva Squad festival, the resort is well-laid out to host a psy-trance festival, and has its own set of adventure activities you can indulge in. Surrounded by nature, listening to your favourite music is made much more fulfilling by the sound of the ebullient river water. What more could you ask for?

There’s nothing like unwinding in a vineyard, indulging in grape stomping and wine tasting, Iberian style. Add some music into the fray and you know you’re in for a spellbinding experience. A music-in-the-vineyard experience like the SulaFest has attracted a lot of people to Nashik in recent years, and lodging options provided along with it make it an ideal destination for a weekend music outing.

With the name of the hill station itself meaning ‘the lake of nine corners’, Naukuchiatal was relatively unknown until the aptly titled Escape Festival headed here a few years ago. One of India’s best-kept secrets, the resort which housed the festival has a spectacular rendezvous point where you can overlook the still beauty of the lake.

Home to the Hill Top Festival, India Bike Week and Sunburn Festival, Vagator is one of Goa’s primary tourist attractions. The scenic place boasts of dramatic red cliffs looking down on the shore and two fresh water springs within a stone’s throw of the sea. Although travelling here during peak festival period can be a painful drive through the narrow roads of Goa, watching the sunset from atop the Vagator rocks is a breathtaking experience you should not miss out on.
