The Godfather of heavy metal, the Hater of Sobriety has done a few crazy things and if we’re being honest, one autobiography will never be enough to chronicle his life! From Black Sabbath to Blizzard of Ozz, Ozzy has been on quite a few journeys and one could write odes to him and his ways and never stop. John Michael Osbourne, better known as Ozzy Osbourne, has been omnipresent in the world of heavy metal and his antics in the ’70s and ’80s made him the ultimate legend in the 90s.

1. Ozzy Peed In An Executive’s Wine

Ozzy Osbourne thought he performed a striptease on the table when he was invited in 1981 to a meeting with the head of CBS Europe in Germany. He was not sober, of course.Β He thought he was just kissing the record executive on the lips. Sharon angrily informed him that he had actually performed a Nazi goose-step up,down the table before dipping his testicles in the executive’s wine and then urinated in it.

2. He Will Never Watch AnyΒ Episode Of The Osbournes.

The reality TV show The Osbournes offered a glimpse into the personal life of the quirky family. The series premiered on MTV on March 5, 2002, until March 21, 2005. It has won an Emmy award and was cited as the most-viewed series ever on MTV but Ozzy confirmed in an interview on BBC Radio 2 that he was stoned during the entire filming of The Osbournes“. That is why he will never see any of the episodes, ever.

3.Β He Fought With A Robber Naked.

At his home in Buckinghamshire, England, Ozzy wrestled naked with aΒ robber who had intruded his wife’s closet. Unfortunately, the robber got away with some expensive jewellery, including Sharon’s wedding ring which was later recovered by their daughter with the help of the British TV show β€˜Crime Watch.’

4. His Statue Still Pees On People!

While most people know about the time Ozzy urinated on the Alamo memorial cenotaph, what they don’t know is about the wax statue which commemorates the historic moment. Artists Ruben Ortiz-Torres and Jim Mendiola commissioned the statue in 2001 which has a motion sensor that makes the statue pee when people approach it. Don’t forget that he was subsequently banned from the city of San Antonio for a decade! Well, somebody had to acknowledge it with a statue!

5. He Did Time In Prison For Burglary

Osbourne left school at 15 and did a lot of odd jobs as a labourer. He tried to steal a television, a handful of baby clothes and some T-shirts and spent six weeks in Winson Green Prison after being unable to pay a fine. Actually, his father refused to pay the fine to teach him a lesson. The lesson was learnt, eh?

6. Diary of a Madman Is His Personal Favourite Album

Ozzy’s second solo album, after his departure from Black Sabbath, Diary of a MadmanΒ featuredΒ singles “Over the Mountain” and “Flying High Again”. He explainedΒ in his autobiography that it is his own personal favourite album.

7. I Am Ozzy Is Getting A Movie Adaptation

Ghost writer Chris Ayres told the singer that he has enough material for a second book which means we could probably get it soon! Moreover, A movie adaptation of his autobiographyΒ I Am Ozzy is in the works, and Osbourne has said that he hopes “an unknown guy from England” shouldΒ get the role.

8. Ozzy Married Sharon On 4th July For A Reason!

Sharon Arden and Ozzy Osbourne married on 4 July 1982. Actually, Ozzy deliberately married Arden on the US Independence Day so that he would never forget his anniversary. Real smart, Ozzy!

9. He Had Stopped Breathing After His Accident!

In 2003, Ozzy was rushed into emergency surgery after an accident in which he broke his collarbone, eight ribs, and a neck vertebra. Sharon has revealed that he had in fact, stopped breathing and was only resuscitated by his then bodyguard, Sam Ruston. Apart from some short-term memory problems, he fully recovered from the crash. Osbourne also suffered burns after a house fire ten years later.

10. He Created His Tattoos With A Sewing Needle And Pencil Lead.

He has over 15 tattoos, out of which his first tattoo and the most famous one is Β the letters O-Z-Z-Y across the knuckles of his left hand. He created that by himself as a teenager with a sewing needle and grate polish.Β He also tattooed smiley faces on his knees and they helped to cheer himΒ up.
