Zee Theatre and Ansh Dharshak Utsav Present A Week Long Theatre Therapy At Prithvi Theatre!

Theatre enthusiasts, cinephiles, writers, aspiring directors and dramatists – unite!

Zee Theatre, a special offering from the stable of the leading global content company ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., partners with Makarand Deshpande’s “Ansh Darshak Utsav 17”, to curate and bring to you 6 days of theatre fever, in the city’s most loved theatre house, Prithvi Theatre. Zee Theatre resides on the idea of reviving the purest form of entertainment – theatre. After one successful season of catering to the wants of theatre aficionados, Zee Network, brings back the experience, in a more tangent form.

The event kick started on 25th July, with a grand opening that saw some of the most reputed industry personnel such as Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Irrfan Khan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vishal Bhardwaj, Rekha Bhardwaj, Bharat Dabholkar, and Nadira Babbar.

Following the inaugural ceremony, the first play ‘Patni’ – A musical featuring Makarand Deshpande and Niladri Kumar, set the ball rolling for the event’s lineup of plays.

Mr. Makarand Deshpande, head of the Ansh Darshak Utsav initiative, shares his thoughts – “Darshak hai toh natak hai. Ansh’s journey of original full-length plays and short plays could happen only because of the audience who have been supporting, encouraging and valuing us from the last 22 years. The idea was to dedicate theatre medium to the audience.”

The event showcases some of the best plays in the city, and also allows attendees to interact and be a part of masterclasses held by industry stalwarts such as Saurabh Shukla, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sonali Kulkarni and more. All masterclasses take place from 11am – 1pm, whereas the plays will begin 6pm onwards.

Ansh Darshak Utsav’ 17 is one such example of a property which is conceptualised by Makarand Deshpande bringing stalwarts like Pandit Ajay Pohankar and Niladri Kumar under one roof to showcase their work.
