Both, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar are regarded as some of the best rappers of this generation, and some even go as far as to say that they’re the Greatest Of All Time, aka the GOATs. And that statement carries a lot of weight when you look at their accomplishments, both Cole and Kendrick have been critically praised, though Kendrick has been awarded more, J Cole still is his biggest competitor!
So when they were not as big they are right now, a joint album was a real possibility, but sadly it never happened. The album would’ve been a masterpiece of sure if they ever managed to work together both the artists are overflowing with talent.
The year is now 2021, and J Cole already has dropped his project this year, Kendrick Lamar might be dropping his album after a long hiatus he took after the release of DAMN!
J Cole recently mentioned in one of his songs how he thinks he’s running third in this competition, behind Kendrick and Drake. So J Cole understands where he stands in the game, because it is quite evident at this point that nor Drake or J Cole can surpass Kendrick, To Pimp A Butterfly is considered to be one of the best albums in hip hop.
J Cole and Drake are trying to catch up, but if Kendrick Drops another classic, there will be no doubts left in anyone’s mind. This just goes to show how competitive hip hop is, and that might be one of the reasons we’re not getting a collaborative album, but who knows, in the future, they might!
