Even though it’s a major professional hazard, it hasn’t stopped musicians from climbing the top of the success ladder!

An inevitable aftermath of being a musician is the damage caused to your ears. Artists are constantly exposed to surround sounds from blaring equipment in the studio as well as the stage during live performances. There are many musicians who have lost their ability to hear in this process. However, they have conquered their hearing disabilities to create magnificent pieces of music. Their immense passion for music and their unrelenting commitment have made them a source of inspiration for the world! They are each a symbol of the triumph of human spirit.

Right from Ludwig van Beethoven to DJ Robbie Wilde, they all have literally felt the music to hear the music. The ability to hear is the most important thing in a musician’s life, but that is the one thing they are lacking. Hard of hearing musicians have been more in the spotlight than you know. Some other artists who have had hearing defects include Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Finnish rap artist Signmark, popular American singer Johnnie Ray and English bandleader George Martin.

Over the last couple of years, one half of the trance duo act Aly & Fila fell prey to this misfortune. Aly had β€œhuge amounts of damage” in his left ear. Well, now you know why we only had Fila on stage during A State of Trance 600 in Mumbai this year. In 2012, Steve Angello revealed at the EDMbiz conference in Las Vegas that he had lost the hearing in his left ear two years ago. Because of this, he taught himself to DJ without headphones.

At 08:25 in the video below, you can see Steve Angello talk about how he has coped with his hearing disability.
