The Weeknd’s new album ‘Starboy’ is finally here to grace us and it is BRILLIANT!
Over the past few months, The Weeknd has gone completely ham by releasing new songs from his album. The hype was built on the fact that he had collaborated on two songs with his childhood stars and influences- Daft Punk. The songs ‘Starboy’ and ‘I Feel It Coming’ went on to become widely acclaimed the minute they were out. He also premiered ‘False Alarm’ and ‘Party Monster’ prior to the album release. ‘Starboy’ was touted to usher in a new persona to Weeknd’s side with him chopping off his trademark locks!
The 18 track album sees Abel collaborate with some heavy duty biggies from the music industry. Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Future and Sam Smith are just some of the names on the impressive roster! The album sees some brilliant production credits with Cashmere Cat producing four songs and even Diplo giving his talents for one song.
The singer has also cited David Bowie and Prince as one his biggest influences for ‘Starboy’, both of who recently passed away this year. The album sees the artist work with some varied tones and genres to give it a more electronic-disco feel. And he aptly ends the album with ‘I Feel It Coming’ to soothe it all down with a mellow groovy number.
The Weeknd has found his true niche!
