The ‘American Oktoberfest’ kicked off this past Wednesday as 80,000 beer aficionados march to Oregon, Portland.
The five-day event in Waterfront Park features handcrafted beers from 86 breweries across the country, and for the first time ever the festival flew in a dozen craft brewers and their beer from The Netherlands and Germany.
Now in it’s 27th edition (23rd – 27th July), the festival had shaky beginnings, the OBF has become perhaps the largest outdoor craft beer festival in the United States, a sprawling, family-friendly behemoth that attracts visitors from around the world.
It’s the spiritual home of Oregon craft brewing and the crown jewel of the city known as “Beervana”: Portland, Oregon. The event also includes live music, food and home brewing demonstrations.
Admission to the festival grounds is free, but you have to buy a souvenir glass and tokens in order to buy beer. So if you’re in Oregon, Portland – this is one place you need to be. Click HERE for more details.
