The land-down-under also moonlights as a great destination for music festivals. With its summer season just kicking in, the continent has some fantastic and out of the box festivals lined up for you. 



1. St Jerome’s Laneway Festival

Where: All over Australia ( Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Fremantle)
When: February

St Jerome’s Laneway Festival will be an indie, post-rock and experimental explosion this february. The festival has become of the favourite events to attend in Australia, that offers a line-up far different from any dance music festival. Purity Ring, Thundercat, DIIV, Chvrches, All Blank, Banoffee, East India Youth,  Beach house are only some of the diverse artistes you’ll get to see take stage at Laneway.


2. Beyond The Valley

Where: Victoria
When: December

A New Year’s Eve festival that packs a massive punch. Eclectic artists, camping in teepees and general revelry are on the only things to be had. Hosted in a gorgeous venue by the ocean, the fest’s line-up includes Boyz Noise, Crooked Colours, Seth Troxler, Pusha T, Miami Horror and much much more!


3. Riverboats Festival

Where: Echuca, Moama
When: February

The Riverboats Festival, is held by the bountiful Murray river and in a natural amphitheatre. Its laid-back, easy-going vibe, not to mention inexpensive tickets, has made it a popular destination among people looking to spend a relaxing time at a music festival.The three-day event will be held from February 19 to 21, 2016

4. Stereosonic

Where: All over Australia
When: November

Australia’s leading music festival – Stereosonic, has just unveiled their entire schedule for 2015.  The travelling festival will rally across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane over the November – December this year with a range of acts that prove why Stereosonic is the mecca of Australian music festivals. 40 artists have been announced to perform at all 5 cities. Highlighting the best in trap, trance, big room, and house – Stereosonic has left no stone un-turned in terms of musical variety. With a challenging schedule and fans with high expectations, we can only hope this year’s Stereosonic doesn’t disappoint. Major Lazer, Galantis, Armin Van Burren, Diplo, Dj Snake are only some of the EDM hotshots that will be performing at this year’s editions!


5. Southbound

Where: Busselton
When: January

Southbound is Australia’s quintessential indie summer fest along with camping, cultural arts and everything. This annual festival is held every January in the beautiful and carefree Southern Australian town of Busselton. If you’re looking to get away from the city and are up for a road trip, this festival is perfect for you. As for the line-up, this years is the best we’ve seen with bands like FOALS, Birds of Tokyo, Alpine, Elliphant, Oh Wonder, Django Django, Gang Of Youths and so many more.


6. Soundwave Festival

Where: All over Australia
When: February

Known as Australia’s major hard rock event, Soundwave is an annual music festival held in major cities around Australia. The festival originated in Perth, Western Australia and began travelling to the other Australian capital cities in 2007. It features a number of international and Australian music acts, from various genres including rock, metal and punk. The festival has been headlined by Deftones, The Offspring, Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Iron Maiden, System of a Down, Slipknot, Green Day and Metallica in the past.


7. The Falls Music And Arts Festival

Where: Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales
When: December to January

This three-city touring festival has a lot to offer for those interested in discovering new acts from Australia and around the world. It’s the perfect festival to unwind at and makes some new buddies or even catch up with your old ones. Apart from a line-up that boasts of the best indie talent, there is also an interesting line up of comedy acts to look out for.

8. Groovin’ In The Moo

Where: All over Australia
When: April, 2016

As Australia’s only regional touring festival and incepted in 2007, Groovin In The Moo has gained notoriety in being one of the most eclectic and fun festivals to be at. Team GTM is a festival community dedicated to bringing awesome music to many awesome locations in Australia. Definitely one to scribble into your bucket list.

9. Byron Bay Bluesfest

Where: Byron Bay
When: March

The famous Bluesfest is a bohemian jazz adventure like no other. You’d be treated to the best and only the best of local and international Jazz and Blues artists. The vibe is very family-friendly and vacation-y while its beach-side venue, like any other Aussie fest is absolutely breathtaking. This festival has stood the test of time and is now considered one of the best alongside Glastonbury and Montreal Jazz Festival.
