Out of the eclectic Weekender Bangalore line-up, The Sherp lists down some of the best and brightest acts that you must catch this weekend.

1. Money for Rope

Known for hosting a bunch of aussie talent, every year, Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Bangalore will not disappoint. Money For Rope, a rock ‘n’ roll band from Australia will tick all the right boxes for a serious (and not so serious) fans of the genre. There’s nostalgia mixed with sick grooves and sing-alongs. Perfect.

Plus, they managed to rake in quite a crowd at the Kolkata edition, last weekend.. There is your stamp of approval.

2. Amit Trivedi

Expertly mixing urban melodies inspired by traditional or earthy backgrounds, Amit Trivedi’s compositions are always a treat.
We’ve seen him wow audiences on Coke Studio and turn a bunch of Kolkata kids into roaring fangirls and boys. Now it’s Bangalore’s turn to enjoy the live music of one the country’s most talented composers.

You’d be a fool to miss this one.

4. Sickflip

The “bass-heavy solo project” boasts of a diverse mood palette while his music is inspired by the likes of Bassnectar and Koan Sound. Recently, Sickflip garnered some major appreciation for the Ladakh Project, that combined fantastic visuals (shot in Ladakh ) with bass infused Buddhist hymns and sounds, thus making for a perfect mid-evening act to catch.

5. Jon Hopkins

Jon Hopkins is a musical genius. Self-hypnosis is a longstanding personal fascination that Hopkins brings into his music.  After starting his career playing keyboard for Imogen Heap, he has produced or contributed to albums by Brian Eno, Coldplay, David Holmes, and others. The Sherp is beyond excitement to see him in action, this sunday. You should be too!

6. Inspector Cluzo

Magical groove, original feeling and sharped sense of rowdy rhythm make The Inspector Cluzo one of the funkiest rock duets in the world. The most surprising thing with the band is, besides that they are only two guys and make more noise than a big orchestra. It’s a unique mix of high-voltage rock’n’roll and fresh funky groove, that had their fans at Kolkata raving about them for days after. Check them out, if you like surprises

Set timing : 4:15 to 5 pm, Bacardi Arena, Sunday, November 9

7. Cloud Control

Having recently seen them play in Kolkata and Blue Frog, Mumbai one thing is for sure – This Ozzy act has a gripping sound, complete with lilting, haunting melodies and old-school grooves. Which is a pretty perfect act to play at the Weekenders.

Set timings: 5:50 to 6:20, Bacardi Arena, Sunday, November 9

8. Mr Woodnote & Lil Rhys

Another great duo for you to discover, this weekend. Judging from their performance in Kolkata, Mr. Woodnote and Lil Rhys and  their own form of saxophone/wind pipe infused reggae dubstep got the crowd dancing in gleeful delight.

Set timings:  4:50 to 5:30, MTS Discover stage, Sunday, November 9

9. As Animals

As Animals are a relatively new French pop duo – Zara Desbonnes (vocals) and Frederic Grange (guitar) who released their first album earlier this year. Their style? New age pop/rock with powerful melodies and arrangements. The vocalist Zara’s powerful, emotional and warm vocals are what will really draw you in. Bangalore – you’re in for treat.

A year after their massive Weekender performances, the New orleans alt rockers are back this time armed with the same intensity, energy, musical proficiency and stage presence as last time. If their recent performance (in Kolkata)  is anything to go by, get ready for the set of your life. There will be nothing ‘typical’ about it.
