Ultra Miami 2016 is FINALLY in the books! With appearances from both upcoming and legendary acts, Ultra 2016 was exactly what it set out to be: a forward-thinking festival on a large scale with loads of fireworks! The Sherp picks out the top 11 sets available online that really defined this year’s edition!

1. Hardwell

Big room is back with a vengeance! Though a vast difference of opinions will cloud the industry on the sensitive topic of the notorious genre, Hardwell made sure he filled his set with old and new bangers, and was showered with praises for his insane main stage set!

2. Armin van Buuren

The ASOT boss’ 2016 set hinted at the legend’s renewed interest in the genre he started off with in the first place. While there was plenty of EDM, he devoted the other half of his set to trance, and the crowd didn’t rest for a bit!

3. Deadmau5

For someone who was added to the Live Stage line up at the last moment as a replacement to The Prodigy, the mau5 did not disappoint. Despite having a spot on the ASOT stage, Deadmau5 brought all the energy to the live stage, playing a load of techno and minimal tunes before shifting to his recent SoundCloud uploads. He followed the same pattern with his ASOT performance, albeit sticking to his promise of trolling everyone by playing some Slayer at the start and a Motorhead song in the end.

4. MAKJ

Though MAKJ played a smasher of a set, his defining moment was when he got the crowd to scream ‘FUCK DONALD TRUMP!’ in hilarious fashion. Ultra moment right there, people! And, just in case you want to listen to the best part, we have it for you right here!

5. Dash Berlin

The euphoric trance legend played a phenomenal set this Ultra, as with every other editon of Ultra! Playing several of his remixes and mashups of popular songs, Dash Berlin’s set was one for the record!

6. Martin Garrix

Martin’sΒ first time closing the Ultra main stage was a memorable one! He showed off his prowess by playing numerous unreleased tracks along with loads of bangers, and made sure the crowd didn’t stop dancing!

7. Avicii

Avicii returned to Ultra after a long hiatus, and showed off hints of his non-pop music side by dishing out some fine electro house for the masses! Playing iconic hits like I Could Be The One and Levels, Avicii showed the crowd that he still has it in him!

8. Kygo

It’s safe to say that Kygo has a monopoly on the tropical house genre, because there are very few producers who can match his level right now. His Ultra set was loaded with tropical tunes and good vibes. We managed to get only the audio for you, but you’ll still feel the vibes with his set!

9. Tiesto

No Ultra set list is complete with out one from one of the living legends of dance music, Tiesto! Playing stuff from his label Musical Freedom, apart from a few IDs, Tiesto brought some very hard-hitting electro house to the main stage!

10. Dyro

Ever since WOLV, Dyro’s style has evolved well, with a lot of distorted basses and genre experimentation. He proved it at Ultra too, with a good mix of electro house, glitch hop and trap!

11. Malaa

The mystery producer’s set was filled with future house; his costume also became a meme on Facebook for a while! Malaa’s set was slow and cosy, with a lot of easygoing tunes that the crowd responded well to.
