Get your girl gang together and head to Sweden next summer, as the largest women-only music festival is finally happening!
Planning your next vacay exclusively with your girlfriends? Then, Sweden is where you should book your summer tickets. The country is all set to host the world’s largest women-only festival,ย Statement Festival, after it managed to raise more than 500,000 Swedish Krona (40,00,458 INR approximately) in a successful crowdfunding campaign.
The brainchild of comedienne Emma Knyckare, the Statement Festival was a necessary move after aย disturbing string of assaults and rapes were reported at the Brรฅvalla Festival and Putte I Parken Festival – some of the country’s most popular festivals. The Statement Festival entrants can only be women, trans women and those who identify themselves as non-binary.
In what comes as a great move from the organisers of theย Brรฅvalla Festival, after the festival reported four rapes and 23 sexual assaults this year, the event has been canceled and will not be held henceforth.ย And though the initiative for an only-women festival called for protests and petitions from various groups, Emma Knyckare reiterated on the fact that the event has been put together with good intentions keeping in mind the safety of women.
