Detroit’s pioneering music festival has some incredible stages lined up for this year.
Over 100,00 people will gather in Detroit this year to dance away Memorial Weekend at Detroit’s legendary riverfront venue, Hart Plaza. With 6 outdoor stages and more than 140 performances, Movement Festival 2015 is going to leave Techno and House lovers spoiled for choice. The Movement Mainstage will be headlined by three colossal acts Richie Hawtin, Snoop Dogg as DJ Snoopadelic, and Dog Blood (Skrillex and Boys Noize). It’s rare and wonderful to see hard hitting underground acts like Recondite and Dixon play the mainstage at a massive festival in USA. Movement is truly a unique festival and it has been rightfully ranked #2 on Beatport’s 15 Incredible Techno Festivals to Hit in 2015.
Fans can rejoice as Red Bull Music Academy and Beatport are curating their own stages once again with amazing line ups. At the Red Bull Music Academy Stage, Juan Atkins will be performing under his revered alias,Model 500 to commemorate three and a half decades of his spectacular career. Additionally, the irreplaceable Squarepusher will return to Hart Plaza for another spectacular live performance to close out the festival. The Beatport Stage is where one can find feature some of the today’s slickest DJs and producers, including headliners Tuskegee (Seth Troxler b2b The Martinez Brothers), Joseph Capriati and Joris Voorn. The Underground Stage is for those who like their techno dark and pounding. The stage will feature acts Anthony Parasole, Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann who destroy clubs like Berghain on a regular basis.
Movement Festival has always put the spotlight on local talent and for a good reason because without Detroit there would be no Techno. This year, the Made In Detroit Stage presented by THUMP will feature a series of showcases curated by some of Detroit’s most celebrated names and figures, such as ORIGINS by Techno legend Kevin Saunderson who will be playing back to back with his legendary partner in crime Derrick May; Detroit Love by hometown hero Carl Craig who has an inspiring message to share about Detroit and Movement; and The Movement Ghostly Showcase by the revered Ann Arbor music collective, Ghostly International. Up and coming local talent will be featured at the Sixth Stage.
