Great news for all you Snapchat addicts, even the Tribeca Film Festival couldn’t hold back on getting a piece of the Snapchat craze!

This year’s Tribeca Film Festival has taken the Snapchat obssesion to another level by introducing a brand new “Snapchat Shorts” category. The first dedicated Snapchat Stories screening will feature 10 comedy-themed stories from U.S. based Snapchat users. All Snapchat Shorts should preferably be under 200 seconds, maintain Snapchat’s vertical video style and not contain any sort of profanity.

The last date for Snapchatters to submit their shorts is March 8, following which, a panel comprising Jessica Alba, Steve Buscemi, Steve Aoki, David, Gordon Green, DJ Khaled, Shay Mitchell and Vashtie Kola will judge the shorts and declare the results.

Winners will receive a trip to the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as some promotion via the special Tribeca Snapchat Discover channel. Snapchat is worth over $16 Billion and its users watch over 7 billion videos per day. Given the cultural relevance and the power of the Snapchat medium for video content creation, it does make sense that this category is included in the festival.
