With Indiaโ€™s famous festival of colors just around the corner and with Holi becoming a global phenomena and all, The Sherp puts together a list of some of the best Holi parties from around the world that are worth travelling to.

1. HOLI ONE

Holi One is one of Englandโ€™s biggest and craziest Holi parties and will be conducted at London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Brighton and Nottingham this year. Conducted over the course of just one day (au contraire to other international Holi celebrations that usually span over a few days) the festival is a perfect blend of music, dance and colours making it one of the โ€˜must attendโ€™ festivals around this time of the year. This year the festival will see people entertained by some of the best local and international DJs including Sebastian Ingrosso, Los de la Vega, BeatKabine, Kid Fonque, Marco Gargiulo and many more. Speaking to The Sherp about the festival, Stephan who is the CEO and founder of HOLI ONE World Festivals said ย โ€œThe festival is about making friends, coming together and having an unforgettable experience.ย  Everyone is equal at HOLI ONE and everyone leaves looking the same, covered in safe and quality cosmetic powder, with a smile on their face and some great pictures to remember it all byโ€ which we think is the perfect description of what goes down at the festival as well as what they stand for.ย  This year will also see the festival expanding intoย  countries such as South Africa and Germany, and is expected to see an audience of over 1,00,000.

2. COLOUR RUN

Founded by Brigham Young University graduate Travis Snyder, The Colour Run or the “happiest 5K on the planetโ€ as it is commonly called, is a 5 kilometer marathon of sorts where participants get showered in colorful powder at each kilometer. At the end of the event, there is a โ€œFinish Festivalโ€, where there is music, dancing and general merry making with participants indulging in giant colour throws. The best part of this run, other than all the color throwing of course, is the fact that the event is un-timed, andย  lacks the intimidation factorย  that other organised fitness eventsย  have, focusing more on the purity of running and positivity. With well over 1 million participants, The Color Run continues to innovate and 2014, being its second year, has introduced their new Kaleidoscope Tour. Kaleidoscopes demonstrate the beauty of motion and change and will include Life-size kaleidoscope triangles, Viewfinder Kaleidoscopes, Confetti filled balloons, Rainbow arches at the finish and loads of Bubbles.

3. LIFE IN COLOR

Considered the Creme de la Colour of Holi themed festivals, Life in Colour is one of the biggest if not the biggest celebration of โ€˜colour throwingโ€™ in the world. Founded by Sebastian Solano, Paul Campbell, Lukasz and Patryk Tracza the United States based festival features performances by some of the biggest electronic musicians in the industry, joined by artistic performers and involves lots and lots of paint throughout the show. The tour was first established in 2006 as Dayglow, and changed to its current name shortly after it was acquired by Robert F. X. Sillermanโ€™ SFX Entertainment in late 2012.

Throughout the show, the audience is sprayed with non-toxic paint through various means, including hoses on-stage and complimentary paint bottles which are distributed to the attendees as they enter. Attendees are also encouraged to dress in white clothing to serve as a “canvas” for the paint. A countdown is also held to a special “paint blast” during the show, which features a mixture of paint and confetti.
