Prior to their much awaited Dubai Edition, The Sherp caught up with the Sensation White’s very own resident DJ, Mr.White. Β

Constantly maintaining a low profile, Sensation White’sΒ pale-faced resident DJ perfectly knows how to set the mood and creates the right vibe with subtle house and tech house grooves. He’s been traveling the world alongside Sensation for several years now, rocking dance floors all over the world. Β The Sherp had an enjoyable conversation with the mystery man behind Sensation White for so many years, as he flaunted his quite pleasant sense of humor.

1) It’s quite a task to stalk you over the Internet, did you always intend on maintaining your mysterious image when you first started DJing?

Well, it comes in handy. When I’m done DJing, I take a shower, the white comes off, and I can run around at Sensation without anybody recognizing me. I like being anonymous like that.

2) Your first outing with Sensation was back in 2009 at Amsterdam. How did it all begin? Run us through how Mr.White became Sensation Worldwide’s resident DJ?

Back in the beginning of house music, there were no big star DJs. It was all about the music. In 2009 the Sensation team was looking for a way to get this back, so the programmed Mr. White, an anonymous DJ, who could focus on playing a groovy, no hits DJ set. The response of the crowd was amazing, so Sensation and me continued until today!

3) What are the perks of being the resident DJ of an event that travels all around the globe?

Airports. Β They are the worst. The waiting, without any WiFi, is the thing I could do without. That’s it, no other perks. I like the traveling, even if it means I have to sit in a plane for half a day to visit a country at the other side of the world, do my DJ thing and fly back the next day. No problem. It’s great, I visited about 20 different cities last year, and I got to sight see almost all of them.

4) What’s the best event you’ve played at?

Sensation Chili 2012 was unbelievable. It was just one of those moments where everything fell into place. A beautiful venue, designed by Gustaf Eiffel (the one from the Eiffel Tower in Paris) together with a crowd full of energy. Β That was amazing. Hope to play there again one day.

5) Have you heard about the electronic music scene in India? Do you think India could host an edition of Sensation sometime in the near future?

I’ve heard the electronic music scene in India exploded in the last few years, so why not? The only thing is… I’m not in charge of the Sensation touring schedule, I’m just that guy who shows up at the very last moment to perform. But I’ll give the Sensation team a heads up. You never know!

Festive Five
1) If you had to get married at a festival, which one would it be and why?

I got married at a festival once, just for fun. A few years ago, at Mysteryland, here in Holland. Although, I hope it was just for fun. Hope I’m not legally married right now.

Β

2) Who/what is your favorite festival buddy? Tell us why.

MC Gee. The host of Sensation. He’s good company… Me and him, we go way back. And he’s tall, so you can always find him. Great meeting point!

3) A festival you would consider being sober at?

A wine tasting festival.

4) If you could take only 3 things to a festival, what would they be and why?

White make-up. No make up, No Mr. White.

An extra white suit. It always gets messy.

And I need my glasses.

Β

5) Name a festival you would consider attending alone. Tell us why.

None. A festival is always better when you go with a big group of friends.

Sensation White Dubai will be held at the Meydan on October 31st 2014, and with headliners such as Hard Rock Sofa, Martin Garrix and Roger Sanchez, this is one experience you would not want to lose out on. Click HERE to know more about the event.
