If this law is passed, the EDM scene in California will undergo a drastic change!

A 4 AM alcohol curfew would mean more options for venue owners. Currently, the state’s scene is a messy mix of legal nightclubs and underground events. This will even be better for bars and taxis as it allows them a chance for more business. It may even be safer as there won’t be the mad rush of everybody getting home at 1:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, Senator Scott Weiner brought the Let Our Communities Adjust Late Night ActΒ and propose a law which would allow municipalities to determine till how late alcohol can be served. ThisΒ would allow bars and restaurants to serve alcohol between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., if approved from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Previously, a similar bill was proposed in 2013 by Mark Leno, and it failed to get votes. Let’s see what happens this time.

Based on the current law, allΒ establishments must stop serving alcohol at 2 a.m.Β Weiner, a Democrat, elected to serve a San Francisco district, said it time we took a different approach to “create more local control around how late alcohol can be served”.
