The brainchild of DJ Ms Jackson, the Together Festival is the answer to the mainly male-dominated EDM charts. Teaming up with Audrey Joseph, the San Francisco Armory’s director of events, to launch Together Fest, an all-women electronic music festival to debut Oct. 8.
When asked the reason behind starting this festival, Jackson says, “We asked, ‘How do we highlight some of these artists that should be getting headlining spots at festivals but aren’t because of their gender?’ We know that there is an incredible amount of female talent in electronic music, in hip-hop, in house music. There should be a mainstream music festival that has an all-female lineup.” The festival will take place across two stages in the 4,000-person music venue, just as soon as the final touches are finalised. It will also include a silent disco, games, food trucks and ‘chill zones’. Other big-name performers include Little Boots, Uniiqu3 and TT the Artist supported by Club Aerobics, a trio of Los Angeles DJs who run a record label for women and non-gender-conforming people.
