To mark the 45th Year, since Hendrix’s last UK Festival performance at Isle of Wight, the 2015 edition is attempting to host a record breaking tribute to the icon himself!

Organisers are hoping to break the record of the most number of people, wearing the same mask at the same time – at the Isle of Wight Festival 2015, to commemorate the impact, and the influence of Jimi Hendrix in the musical world – while making an impact themselves by donating all the proceeds to the WellChild charity!

Managing Director, John Giddings, in his press release, stated

“Jimi’s impact on the island and to popular music cannot be underestimated. His inspiration lives on today and is present each year in the artists performing this year. We wanted to celebrate the 45th anniversary by doing something fun with everyone at the festival this year. By buying a Jimi mask people can not only take part in this special celebration but also help raise money for our partner charity WellChild.”

Not only have festival goers been asked to contribute to breaking the record, but also to creating that perfect Jimi Hendrix Tribute experience, by either dressing up like him, or just finding innovative inceptions of Hendrix, into their own festival fashion and accessories!

With the main stage being christened “The Electric Church” in honour of the legendary artist, and artists like Fleetwood Mac, featuring across stages – Isle of Wight sure is going to be fun. The Sherp already knew this though, when we told you about the Isle of Wight!
