The pandemic hasn’t been taken care of yet, and the virus is still raging in many countries, including the USA. To tackle the covid issue, the Pokemon GO franchise had extended the radius for the pokestop interactions so that fans won’t overcrowd a spot. This was a lifesaver, literally, for many fans.

This update made the game playable even during the dark times of the pandemic. But now that the virus is somewhat showing stagnation, the Pokemon GO company has decided to revert to their old ways. This is a bad decision, as many countries still have to vaccinate their entire population.

For the USA, the rules will get applied from the 1st of August. This is just crazy for a nation of 300 million people (which hasn’t reached herd immunity yet). The virus is still there, and thousands of people are still getting infected every day.

Pokemon GO is played mostly by kids. And no parent wants their kid to go out during a pandemic to catch virtual creatures. Due to its many fans and influencers are suggesting a boycott of the game. The Pokemon GO company could’ve kept the rules the way they are until the situation calmed down. But they’ve decided to do otherwise, and the fans aren’t happy.
