Nearly 150 festival-goers have been charged with drug offences at Field Day – a New Years Day dance festival held in Sydney.

While 140 people have been arrested for possession of drugs, 22 have been ejected for disorderly conduct and intoxication. What probably caught them off guard was the presence of police drug-sniffing dogs at the event.

Two men (an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old) are being are being charged with a more serious offence and will face court in February. They have been caught with a large amount of cash, while the older one was also caught with 35 ecstasy pills.

Field Day saw roughly 20,000 revelers with a line-up featuring Flume, London Grammar, Wiz Khalifa and ASAP Rocky among many others.

This is certainly a tragic way to begin the year. The Sherp urges all you festival-goers to be more responsible, and would also like to know your views on this. Will tightening up security at festivals and concerts completely curb any chances of mishaps? Let us know!
