“As if we were actually going to let Malia go to Burning Man this year. That was not going to happen. Bernie might have let her go. Not us.”

President Obama, known for his witty quips and comments, especially at the WH Correspondents’ Dinners did it again for one final time.

In a speech that lasted a little over 30 minutes, the POTUS let loose and said pretty much everything he ever wished to say in his final White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech. The speech was part of the long standing tradition of the dinner where the media, politicians, celebrities and of course the president himself come together for some lighthearted humour. Obama of course always kept it real using the podium to take humourous digs at anyone who’s ever had issues with him.

Bernie Sanders was one of the people on the receiving end of his jokes,Β “I’m disappointed you’re distancing yourself from me,” Obama said, looking right atΒ Sanders in the audience “That’s just not something you do to your comrade.” He then went on to talk about voters feeling the Bern, “A lot of folks have been surprised by the Bernie phenomenon, especially his appeal to young people. But not me, I get it. Just recently, a young person came up to me and said she was sick of politicians standing in the way of her dreams. As if we were actually going to let Malia go to Burning Man this year. That was not going to happen. Bernie might have let her go. Not us.”

Previously at aΒ keynote speech at the Silicone Valley Trust Association in 2015, Obama was asked a question about the controversial ‘burners’, to which he replied, “I can see why they would [go to Burning Man]. Hell, I think it sounds like a lot of fun.Β See, you got all these beautiful, dynamic people coming together, spreading love, looking out for one another. That is vaguely like my vision of tomorrow’s America. Minus the orgies and techno. I’m more of a house guy, as you know.Β I’ve got two more years in office, after that Michelle and I might even head up there ourselves in Billary’s camper, make a little White House Art car for all you folks.”
