The results for the European Festival Awards are out with some surprises!
The European Festival Awards were initiated in 2010 by the European festival association Yourope and the festival website Virtual Festivals Europe. Marking the opening of the annual four-day Eurosonic Noorderslag, the European Festival Awards celebrate the best of Europe’s music festival industry. In a grand event, the winners of the 2015 EFAs were announced in Groningen, The Netherlands last night.
The awards cover 13 different categories decided by a combination of public votes and industry juries. The 2015 edition featured over 350 festivals from 50 different European countries, with over 800,000 votes cast in total. The highlights were Lollapalooza Berlin winning Best New Festival and Major Lazer – Lean On winning the Festival Anthem of the Year.
