Kanye West’s new album DONDA was set to release last Friday, but we got no new music from West last week and we won’t be getting it this week as well. The album has a lot of hype surrounding it and fans have been waiting eagerly for it to drop but it looks like Kanye has some other plans.
The reason cited for the delay is your usual mixing and mastering issues. But Kanye West literally rented the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta to play his album to his fans, he put out advertisements, expensive advertisements for the release. All this hinted towards one thing, that the album is done, no one would start marketing the product when it’s in the early stages.
So what happened? When Kanye played the album to an arena full of people, the reactions were mixed. There are a lot of conflicting reports from the event, some say the songs weren’t even songs, they were just snippets and some say the snippets were good. The people who paid to watch West had to wait 2 hours because he was late. And after arriving he was seen doing some weird things.
He unusually started pacing up and down, then he sat down to pray one time, and one time he just stood there, not talking for minutes. The fans even started chanting so that West talked, but it was of no use.
Many Kanye fans know this is typical Kanye behavior, his artistic mind does anything it wants, West is only the vessel.
When will DONDA drop?
If some credible sources are to be believed, then the project will be dropping next month, 6th August which is not that far. And if this time is needed to mix and master the album so that we get a better project, fans won’t mind the project getting delayed a month or so. Because Kanye West is undeniably one of the biggest and most talented artists of this generation!
