Governors Ball has something to say about the launch of Panorama Music Festival.Β

We’ve spoken earlier about the potential New York City festival, which is dubbed as the β€˜East Coast Coachella’. This festival was to be called Panorama and wasΒ scheduled to take place two weeks after Governors Ball. Unsurprisingly, GovBall was not too thrilled about this and launched a petition demanding the Mayor of NYC to reject the event proposal for June 2016. Looks like despite the petitions against this festival by Governors Ball and it’s loyal fans, the festival will be coming to New York.

But according to Governors Ball representativeΒ Bill de Blasio, the festival will not fight the launch of Panorama anymore. He says,

“We’re very confident our lineup and proven track record will draw a great crowd to Governors Ball this year, and our experience with the festival site allows us to put on a great event for music fans. But this is a short-sighted and disappointing solution. The city needs a long-term strategy for approving music festivals that ensures it is maximizing the economic and community impact of these events. Scheduling two same-genre festivals on top of each other like this makes it difficult for either to provide the maximum benefit to its fans, its neighbors and taxpayers.”
